BossI recently read an article in the New York Times about the co-CEO of Birchbox.  And I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you.

Many leaders focus on the activity of “doing” and don’t delegate well.  No I am not talking about the leader that can not or will not delegate, I am talking about something else.

To quote part of the article:  “The role of a boss is to help people to take control of their lives, says Katia Beauchamp, co-founder and co-CEO of Birchbox. You can’t take personal responsibility for each of your charges; all you can do is give people the opportunity to help themselves, Beauchamp explains. “I’m here to set you up for success. But you’re driving. I can’t drive all your cars. There are too many of you,” she says.”

I agree that the CEO and Bosses and Up-lines should focus on providing the vision of the “big picture” then providing the tools and the opportunity for workers to help themselves.  Most workers, whether in a “job” or starting their own business online, want to succeed.  They will strive for that successful match to the “big picture” if given the right tools and the opportunity to use them creatively.

That is the great thing about SFM:  We are shown the “big picture” right up front and provided systematic education and tools so we can make it happen.  Many other online companies just provide the outline of information with some referrals to some tools.  SFM goes beyond that and has a whole system of education for the beginner to progress to expert.  Just like the elementary education progresses to a full blown University of information.

Make the time to stop and breathe.  Focusing on your breath pattern and slowing it down consciously is a quick calming exercise.
