A good leader makes things easy to understand for everyone. Focus on the most important goals as a leader. Start setting priorities once you’ve accomplished that and then focus on action steps. The work needs to be as simplified as possible. Also you have to allow for time to think for others as well as you.

A leader always adhere to high ethical standards when handling customers and employees. Ethics is a part of any successful business. When customers know that you have their best interests at heart, they will be faithful to your company. Ensure rules are followed by developing morals within your company.

Prepare yourself before addressing your team. A leader will always consider the questions that might be asked. Spend time developing strong answers for them. If you have the right answers, your team will admire you. If you should discover that you have given a wrong answer – own up to it!  Then show what can be learned from this mistake to move forward again. Being prepared for meetings will save you quite a bit of time.

A leader will set missions and goals for the entire company. Develop a plan and communicate to your team what their individual contributions should be. Never let your employees lose sight of their goals. Always focus on these goals during meetings and demand accountability for their success from yourself and your team.

Your decisions are crucial. For instance, your selections for projects, reasons for hiring, firing and more are all important. You’ll want to avoid favoritism and reward those tho have done a good job.

A good leader believes in synergy. Know exactly what kinds of goals you want to reach personally. Understand your business goals. There should always be alignment between them and overlap from time to time. This allows you to concentrate on both sets of goals together. If that’s impossible, over time you may lose your drive for the business.

Take responsibility for what you say and do. Leadership requires accountability for your actions and words. You’re the leader of the company and that means whatever you do is going to symbolize the business. If you do take the wrong actions or say the wrong words at work, it is your job to fix these wrongs. You are the team leader, so everything is ultimately your responsibility.

A leader will study the art of writing well. Your personality is vital to good leadership, but there is more to it than that. A large part is about how well you can communicate. If you use poor grammar and misspell words, it’ll be tough for your business partners or colleagues to look at you as a leader. Keep this in mind and be careful on how and what you write.

One of your necessary talents will be clear communication with your employees. Be especially clear to your team about what they need to know to do the task the deadline of the completion. Check in now and then to ensure that your project is going in the right direction.

Always know that you should have an open mind when it comes to being a leader and learning something new. Take some classes or go to workshops on a regular basis to learn new skills on how to lead well. The leadership field is constantly growing and evolving with new theories and information. Be certain to stay relevant and current.

Keep all your professional promises. A good leader always keeps his promises. If that proves impossible, you have to tell others why not. You will not gain respect from anyone if you make last minute changes to your strategies without justifying your reasoning.

If a subordinate makes a mistake, use it as an opportunity to teach rather than to criticize. Talking about what didn’t go right and being open with the entire team about this incident can help everyone from making that same mistake later.

Never play favorites to certain employees when they offer suggestions. Show the same interest and respect to everyone. Treat others how you would like to be treated. Be fair to all your employees and follow through with any promises that you have made.

To become a great leader, you’ll need to know what your team’s strengths and weaknesses are. Use your team’s differences to help the team succeed. Learn about each employee’s personality. In order to build trust, you should ask about their home life.

A leader always maintains good organizational practices and set the bar high for subordinates. Messy, disorganized leadership tends to work its way down the chain to the staff. When you are clear about what has to be done your business will enjoy greater productivity.

You do not want others to think of you as a poor leader. You should know how to understand people and what you should avoid. A burning desire to always do things right and keep learning is what separates good leaders from the bad. Make a sound decision, and implement these tips today.

The role of a boss is not control?

The role of a boss is not control?

BossI recently read an article in the New York Times about the co-CEO of Birchbox.  And I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you.

Many leaders focus on the activity of “doing” and don’t delegate well.  No I am not talking about the leader that can not or will not delegate, I am talking about something else.

To quote part of the article:  “The role of a boss is to help people to take control of their lives, says Katia Beauchamp, co-founder and co-CEO of Birchbox. You can’t take personal responsibility for each of your charges; all you can do is give people the opportunity to help themselves, Beauchamp explains. “I’m here to set you up for success. But you’re driving. I can’t drive all your cars. There are too many of you,” she says.”

I agree that the CEO and Bosses and Up-lines should focus on providing the vision of the “big picture” then providing the tools and the opportunity for workers to help themselves.  Most workers, whether in a “job” or starting their own business online, want to succeed.  They will strive for that successful match to the “big picture” if given the right tools and the opportunity to use them creatively.

That is the great thing about SFM:  We are shown the “big picture” right up front and provided systematic education and tools so we can make it happen.  Many other online companies just provide the outline of information with some referrals to some tools.  SFM goes beyond that and has a whole system of education for the beginner to progress to expert.  Just like the elementary education progresses to a full blown University of information.

The question is now up to you.  Are you ready to take responsibility for your life, your success?  If you answered yes then you are ready for the training and support provided.  We offer a bit of this information and training for free – to show you a bit of what is ahead for those who truly want to take charge of their lives.  Step up and look for yourself.

Here is the complete article about Karina Beauchamp of Birchbox – she is an inspiration

Advice To Improve Your Business Leader Skills

Advice To Improve Your Business Leader Skills

If you are truly committed to growing your leadership skills, the right advice is important to have. This article is going to assist you with becoming the leader that people are looking for. You should have a much better idea of how to become a leader after reading the following article.

As a leader you must communicate your team’s vision. Try using your mission as a compass and integrating the company values into your everyday leader experience. Let your team understand the big picture and how they are contributing specifically. This will also help you find a direction and build stronger connections within your team.

If you want to be a good leader, be honest. Leaders should always strive to take people in better directions. When you’re honest, the people that you are leading will see and appreciate that. Stay open and honest and your team will return the favor.

Great leaders are inspirational and they welcome creativity. Thinking creatively helps goals and businesses to succeed. Good leaders try to explore all the possibilities and follow their curiosity. Consider new ideas even in situations where they won’t help you short-term. Your belief can lead and assist others to create new concepts within the project.

Honesty is crucial for a leader. If your team doesn’t trust you, they won’t work well for you either. Always remain trustworthy and honest. People will respect you in a leader role if they know you’re reliable and trustworthy.

Recognizing talents in others is a sign of a good leader. This helps you realize who to choose for certain tasks and where to position people. This strategy works if you are hiring people or contracting someone to do a small job.

Focusing on your team is very important as a leader. Inspire them and encourage them to be motivated. Instead of focusing on completing every small task, focus on energizing your team into performing better.

Leaders always convey an air of approachability. Some people think that using fear and intimidation is a good way to lead. That is not the right path, and you will be loathe to find success that way. Part of your position is to ensure your team performs well, so ensure that they know that your door is open.

Give incentives for well done work. These are salaried employees quite often, but incentives can make a major impact on productivity. If your employee goes way above their call of duty, make sure they see that you see that and try encouraging that with a type of gift or bonus. Being a cheap leader is a good way to not have good employees.

Your decisions as a leader are crucial. Who do you trust to delegate responsibilities to others? What type of person do you hire to fill important job roles? All those decisions cause others to see you in a certain light. Choosing favorites and forgetting to reward individual accomplishments can reduce morale and undermine productivity.

Be a good listener. Being skilled at hearing what is being said is a great skill for a leader to have. Understand what your team is telling you. Listen to their praise, but listen to their complaints as well. Listen to their opinions about both the buyers and the products. You may be surprised at the amount of things you learn from just listening to others.

To be a good leader, it’s a good idea to learn how to listen to the people who work for you. And I mean REALLY listen – restate their comments to demonstrate your comprehension to what you have heard. They can give you valuable input to your ideas and and help you see potentials that you may have seen yourself. Once you’ve listened to what their ideas are, expect success.

Don’t be obsessed with winning everything. Due to the incredible amount of data that is available to you because of new technology and the Internet, it becomes simple to break it all down into lots of numbers. This is a great way to know your goals, and to see how the progress is going. Rather than focusing on just the numbers, it is important that you first teach employees how to succeed and develop that winning attitude. Eventually, everything else will fall into place.

Find out how you can write in an effective way. Being a leader involves more than your vision and the way you hold yourself. You also have to show others what you mean through words. If you write sloppily, with poor grammar and misspellings, then it’ll be hard for your employees or partners to take you seriously as a leader. Remember this and pay special attention to how and what you write.

Have an open mind as far as improving leadership skills goes. You always need to enhance your traits as a leader through workshops and classes. New methods are always coming along, and you can always learn something about leadership. Make sure to keep yourself up-to-date.

Great leaders regularly demonstrate the skills necessary to improve the world for all. Build on your strengths and improve on your weaknesses. Keep all of this knowledge in mind to become the best leader possible.
